Needle and Thread

At Ripple Bay of course everything goes right all the time? Not so. Last night we and friends for dinner and i left a pan steaming happily away by accident and it burnt on the bottom of the saucepan (no photo of that little beauty!). This compares to the last time when the same friends came over and I had somehow forgotten to visit the butchers and so we had a meatless BBQ. Anyone would think I was vegetarian…oh yes actually i am the lone vegetarian in the household. Hmmmm.

On a more positive note I was happily sewing away this morning, straight after breakfast steadfastly ignoring the sink full of dirty dishes, and listening to the dulcet tones of kids with friends playing happily (aka fighting and yelling) when they decided to go and find fish in the estuary. Disaster struck!  One net had holes in it! Luckily crafty Mama had her needle and thread out and magically fixed things. Onwards and upwards…………….I'm off for a stiff coffee, Happy Weekending, Emma x

Making a splash

I think the spa pool has spoilt me when it comes to swimming in the sea. It just never seems warm enough.

However even I was in "boots and all" this Easter when we spotted a large school of fish in a tidal estuary. There were so many that the wee people and I were literally fishing with our hands - chucking the fish up onto the sand. Joined by kids from nearby tents and caravans we splashed and squealed as we grabbed for our dinner.

It would be fair to say, I loved my unplanned swim and followed by a tasty meal of fresh fish (baked whole with slices of lemon) served up with homemade chips and tartare sauce it couldn't have been a better day.
